OUR VOLUNTEER FOSSIL PREP LAB EXPERIENCE HAS NOW RESUMED. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR OUR WINTER SCHEDULE!

INTERESTED IN ROCKS AND FOSSILS? WILLING TO GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY?

The Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum is pleased to offer our volunteer preparation program to interested members of the public. As a volunteer in the preparation lab, you will get hands-on experience working to remove dinosaur fossils from their encasing rock and preserve them for future study. You will get direct instruction on how to use the tools and the methods used from our palaeontology staff as you find out for yourself what lies buried in the rock. No experience is required, though we recommend that volunteers come with a steady hand and a lot of patience. Our current prep lab schedule is provided below.

Please note that prep lab is available during the day and evenings including most Saturdays during our fall hours. Always check the schedule for up to date times. Drop-ins welcome Thursdays, Fridays and the first Saturday of the month until 5pm. Please contact cscott@dinomuseum.ca to make arrangements in advance if you would like to attend the prep lab during any of the other scheduled hours.
