Bonebed Tour Guide
Are you a fun energetic person who loves the outdoors? Become a bonebed tour guide! Explore Pipestone Creek as you take participants on a journey back to the Cretaceous. Educate others about our prehistoric past as you show them real fossils and explain why we have such a rich fossil history.Guides must be over the age of 18, have Standard First Aid training, a drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle. This is a seasonal volunteer position as bonebed tours only run June – September. Must be able to walk 5km and carry up to 20 pounds.

Community Outreach
Love helping around the community? We do too! We get involved with many events around the Grande Prairie, Wembley, and Beaverlodge area. We look for fun, inviting people to assist with the booths we run.

Dino Bus Driver
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to drive our Dino Bus. Experience in driving larger vehicles is preferred. Drive for special events! Tour visitors from our Museum to the Pipestone Bonebed and back! Help stimulate the visitors excitement with a couple fun facts about the Bonebed along the way and ask for feedback forms on the way back. Must be over the age of 25 and have a minimum Class 4 driver’s license; recent driving abstract required.

Dinosaur Mascot: Alan
We are currently looking for someone to be our mascot: Alan the Tyrannosaur! Attend events, have fun! Learn to roar! Must be physically capable to wear costume (up to 50 pounds) and operate technical devices for periods of time.

Dinosaur Mascot: Aluk
Have you always wanted to have a secret identity? While we can’t make you a superhero, we can make you a super dinosaur! Why not volunteer to be our mascot Aluk? You can even bring along a friend or two to be your ‘mascot guide’. Please note visibility and speaking ability is limited in the suit. Must be willing to wear the costume for 30 minute to hour long intervals.

Docent
Passionate about dinosaurs? Learn about all of our exhibits and educate our visitors by delivering guided gallery tours. Assist our ticketing clerk with a friendly smile as a visitor services host. Welcome visitors to the Aykroyd Family Theatre to see one of our National Geographic films as a theatre host.

Fossil Prep Lab
Interested in rocks and fossils? Willing to get your hands dirty? As a volunteer in the preparation lab, you will get hands on experience working to remove dinosaur fossils from their encasing rock and preserve them for future study. You will get direct instruction on how to prepare fossils from our Assistant Curator as you find out for yourself what lies buried in the rock. School Program Assistant
Do you want to help out in our Education department? Do you enjoy being part of the hustle and bustle of a classroom? Be an education program assistant. Duties would include assisting in preparation work for the programs, as well as assisting with activities and lab in our education programs. Must be available to volunteer during our school program times: Tuesday – Thursdays 10:00am – 3:00pm.

Help out with our special events! We look for energetic and outgoing people to assist anywhere from set-up and decorating to assisting with special guests and hosting.

Community Ambassador
If you love the museum and are passionate about sharing that with others, become a Community Ambassador! You will have the opportunity to attend local events and share with your community what makes our museum so great. Looking for people located in the rural Peace Region!

Landscaping
Calling all green-thumbs! This is a great opportunity to use your gardening and landscaping skills at the museum to help make sure it looks it very best. The role is spring – summer only, great for all you snowbirds that escape the cold!

Visitor Services Host
Welcome guests to the amazing museum with a smile! Come spend some time at the front desk getting to know the staff and assist with helping to start and switch our National Geographic movies. You may also have the opportunity to explore the museum and engage with the guests, ensuring they have an enjoyable visit while they are here!
